With a strong belief in the power of smiles, Gustav Ehrenreich created his cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to create a character that would serve as an everlasting reminder to stay positive and optimistic. Because although the '60s are often referred to as "The Happy '60s," the decade was marked by unrest. Therefore, Ehrenreich's design was a welcome source of joy in an otherwise rather turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble represent the designer's very first Hoptimists: a school-dressed girl with smiling eyes and an alert boy with a cotter pin on his head. The cheerful Hoptimists are now a part of Danish design history and are a source of joy around the world. The figures are available in four different sizes and in a wide range of colors that spread lots of energy, good humor and joy.
