This handmade stainless steel product is essential for making Thuringian dumplings. The practical dumpling and potato masher has a handle of approx. 35 cm and is also suitable for preparing mashed potatoes, starch dumplings and other tough dough types such as yeast dough. Thanks to the small inner and larger outer holes, all ingredients can be ground quickly and without lumps.

Recipe for original Thuringian dumplings
Ingredients:
- floury potatoes
- water
- salt
Tip: 2 medium-sized potatoes make 1 dumpling Preparation
Divide the desired amount of floury potatoes into ⅓ and ⅔ portions. Boil the ⅓ portion in salted water. Grate the remaining ⅔ portion with a coarse grater, add in portions to the dumpling bag and press with a dumpling press until no more liquid comes out. Set this mixture aside for the time being.
Then strain the cooked potatoes (collect the water), mash with a potato masher and add a little of the hot cooking water until you have a pulpy mixture. Now quickly fold the raw, grated mixture into the boiling hot mashed potato mixture with a potato masher until the dough has a thick consistency. It is said that the dough starts to puff when it is folded in - then it is ready!
At the same time, bring salted water to the boil in a large pan. Now form dumplings from the finished mixture, add pieces of toasted bread or bread roll to the dumpling as desired and gradually add to the hot, but not boiling water. The finished dumplings will float to the surface after about 20 minutes.
Tip: Thuringian dumplings taste particularly good with gravy or red cabbage.
