Kela look back on a company history of more than 115 years at kela – always in the spirit of home and living. The absolute focus on people, their wishes and needs, their lifestyle as well as respect for the environment and nature are the primary objectives of kela and have formed the basis of our success for so many years.
1903 Keck & Lang is founded in Stuttgart by Ferdinand Keck and Hugo Lang. Brooms, brushes, blockers, and later also carpet sweepers were produced by 7 employees. During the war years, fire flappers were especially in demand.
1948 The brothers Wolfgang and Werner Lang take over the company as the second generation.
1957 The company is relocated to Böhmenkirch. The range of products and services was constantly expanding.
1978 After 75 years, the family business continues to grow. The transition from brushes and brooms manufacturer to a supplier of products for the modern household is completed.
1988 The brothers Kurt and Wolfgang Lang take over as the third generation. Newly acquired customer groups shape the product designs.
1993 The establishment of a proprietary product brand takes its course.
2003 - 100 years anniversary
The company is growing steadily and the Kela product brand is increasingly gaining importance.
2008 The Kela brand is in demand worldwide. New countries are being developed. The first subsidiary, Kela France in Nancy, France, is founded.
2010 The company’s aspirations increase. Innovation, proprietary developments, design and quality are a priority. The newly launched Kela logo illustrates the new self-confidence. The full focus on customer service as well as the proprietary brand characterize Kela’s business philosophy and the success.
2017 New markets are being opened up in the USA. Kela USA, Inc., is founded and headquartered in Chicago. A warehouse in Cleveland supplies customers in the US quickly and efficiently.
2018 Kela's products are represented in more than 80 countries worldwide. The assortments are newly reviewed and adapted to current trends each year and presented at important national and international trade fairs. High-revenue Kela shop-in-shop sales areas are installed at more than 400 customers. Continuous development, rather than stagnation characterizes the company today.
2020 The shareholders' meeting of Keck & Lang GmbH appoints Thomas Keppler as the new managing director of the company. Kurt and Wolfgang Lang, who shaped the family business on the Swabian Jura together as managing directors and managed it for many years, will remain active as shareholders.
